Complete History of American Musical Theatre: The 1930s
The 1930’s. America is deeply shaken by the depression. But despite this—or perhaps because of it—the musical lights on Broadway shone with a new brilliance. Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, George and Ira Gershwin, and Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart showered the stage with great music that shaped the cultural landscape and solidified their reputations as Masters of Musical Theater. Join us for an evening of classic songs, theater anecdotes and a little bit of history as we celebrate the first Golden Age of musical theater.
