Michael Orenstein

Michael is a pianist, composer, and educator based in LA. His unique sound, described by Jazz Club De Nit as “rhythmic richness, creativity, and modern language,” has garnered him significant recognition as a leader, as well as high demand as a sideman. In May 2022, Orenstein signed with Origin Records for the release of his debut record, “Aperture,” which has gained significant recognition and radio play from jazz stations all over the world. He has toured in Holland, South Africa, Canada, The Bahamas, and will tour New Zealand in October 2022. At age 27, Orenstein has gained many accolades, including awards from the South Africa International Jazz Piano Competition, The American Jazz Piano Competition, ASCAP Young Jazz Composers, Downbeat, Ravinia Bridges Composition Competition, and The American Pianist Association. Orenstein always strives to pay homage to jazz legends, while exploring uncharted avenues.
