Norwid’s Return
An Odyssey Theatre co-production with The Marek Probosz Theatre
Cyprian Kamil Norwid is considered today one of Poland’s greatest writers of the 19th century. A keen thinker and fervent moralist whose work gained critical appreciation only long after his death.
A recent winner for Best New York Premiere at the United Solo Festival, “Norwid’s Return” is a dynamic collision of words and sounds between an actor and a pianist exploring the raw genius of a poet ahead of his time. Familiar forms of classical music of the great composers – Mozart, Ravel, Chopin, Szymanowski – illuminate the Norwidean darkness and the complexity of his mind.
