Lincoln Seymour

Lincoln Seymour is a dancer and choreographer from Chicago, IL. His performance career began early when he was cast as Billy in Billy Elliot the Musical with Porchlight Music Theatre. This experience sparked a curiosity for music performance and storytelling through movement. His performance in this show would lead to an invitation to audition for the Chicago Academy for the Arts with a dance focus, where he trained under his mentors Patrick Simoniello and Randy Duncan.

As his aspirations for the performing arts grew, so did his interest in music composition and its relationship to the movement he was performing and generating. In his research, he aims to mediate a mutualistic relationship between dance and music to help make sense of the work presented. This was the topic of his directed research and USC Senior Capstone project which would eventually inspire him to create the work presented tonight, Rat Race.

Following high school, Lincoln pursued a BFA at the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance where he was awarded the Artistic Excellence Scholarship. Here he had the opportunity to perform the works Bolero X by Shihar Binyamini in collaboration with Ballet BC, Increases by Justin Peck, and Whereabouts Unknown by Jiri Kylian. During his summers, he furthered his training at prestigious programs such as the Jacob’s Pillow and the Nederlands Dans Theater intensives and most recently, made his professional concert dance debut as a guest artist with BODYTRAFFIC, performing Trey McIntyre’s MAYDAY.

Lincoln is grateful for the opportunities and support systems that have shaped his artistry. He is eager to continue exploring the intersections of movement, music, and narrative by joining a dance company that offers both performance experience and collaborative creative opportunities to help jump start an eventual choreographic career.
