Kate Myers

Kate Myers is a Los Angeles-based choreographer, educator, dancer, and pilates/body mechanics instructor whose work sits at the intersection of athleticism, intellect, and ecological consciousness. Currently an MFA Candidate in Choreographic Inquiry at UCLA, Myers’ practice integrates modern dance lineages with somatic education to explore movement as a site for collective ecosystem repair.

Her choreographic work, spanning stage, film, and site-specific installation, investigates themes of resilience and futurity. Most recently, her MFA Capstone, VESTIBULE, premiered at UCLA’s Glorya Kaufman Theater on April 3rd and 4th. Myers’ choreography has been commissioned by platforms including Art Bath (NYC), OhioDance Festival, YDI Emerging Choreographer Contest (Michigan), and MashUp’s International Women’s Day Festival (LA). She currently teaches Modern/Postmodern dance, Ballet, and Body Mechanics at UCLA and holds a BFA from Marymount Manhattan College, where she was awarded the single Gold Key for Excellence in Choreography. During her time in New York, she was also a pro-assistant for West Coast Dance Explosion and has since taught contemporary, ballet, modern, improvisation, ecosomatics, and injury-prevention classes at many intensives and dance studios across the United States.

As a performer, Myers has collaborated with many artists and companies, including the Martha Graham Dance Company, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Sonya Tayeh, Alexandra Damiani, Andrew Winghart, Paul Taylor, Will Rawls, Milka Djordjevich, and Peter Chu. While obtaining her MFA, Myers also assisted Deborah Hay at the Getty for Solo Duo (2024) and performed as a soloist with Alive and Well Productions in The Four Seasons of Hamadan alongside violinist Yvette Holzwarth. Through her interdisciplinary research, Kate aims to generate a new movement pedagogy that empowers the next generation of dancers to navigate a regenerative future.
