Emma Shane

Emma Shane is a Los Angeles–based dancer originally from Sacramento, California. She is a dance major at Loyola Marymount Univeristy and will graduate in 2028. A key part of Emma’s identity is being a neurodivergent dancer and sharing her experiences through dance films and performances.

In 2023, Emma toured Northern California with Healing Heels in the dance production Transitions. Following the tour, she continued working as a guest artist with companies including Borne Dance Company and Sac Vibe Tribe. She is also a content creator, producing content for brands including 5 Hour Energy, Picta at Walgreens, Poppi, MyFitnessPal, and L’Oréal Paris.

Her piece Return to Instructions challenges what obedience, authority, and power are, if it is real, and how much control we give them. Emma has based this on being in systems and how we are all a part of one, whether we realize it or not. How can we balance the society of systems and the individuality of expression and agency over our time and energy? She has performed an abridged version of Return to Instructions at her college’s Spring Concert. Odyssey will be her premiere of the full-length piece.
