La Vie En Rose

La Vie en Rose

Synopsis

Journey back to the streets and cabarets of Paris with Grammy-winning opera diva and stage chanteuse extraordinaire, Julia Migenes. Let her interpretations of the songs of Jacques Brel and François Robert, Michel Legrand and Jacques Demy, and other masters of the art, carry you to the city of lights and romance. Completely inhabiting each song’s persona, Migenes is your guide through lovelorn heartache, wistful despair, playful reminiscence, whispered regret – conjuring time and place: the wee hours of the morning on the left bank, an umbrella-crowded rainy afternoon on the Rue de Rivoli, an evening in a smoke-filled bar in the Marais. Her expressive body language and vocal eloquence serve as universal translations of the classic chansons, giving clear and elegant meaning to every phrase.

Accompanied on piano by Victoria Kirsch and directed by Oscar-nominated director Peter Medak, Migenes is the quintessential instrument through which these songs of hope, despair, and love come once again to vivid life.
